Jermel President, a Charleston native, started his career at Burke High School, where he led his team to three Conference Championships and a Lower-State Championship, averaging 24.6 points his senior season. He was quickly recognized as one of the premier shooters in the state. President then attended the College of Charleston and helped carry his team to three NCAA Tournaments, four Conference Championships, an NIT bid, plus an incredible overall record of 106-16 in four years. These victories included defeats over UMASS, Tennessee, Stanford, Arizona State, Maryland, and North Carolina. President was appointed to the All-Conference teams each year he played for the College. In his 1st year of play, he made the Rookie Team, and went on to make the 3rd Team his sophomore year. President made the 2nd Team in his junior and senior years. President finished 12th on the all-scoring list (1175), held the record of 32 consecutive free throws and led the NCAA in free throw percentage (91%) in 1998-1999.
After playing for the College of Charleston, President played in several professional leagues, including the USBL, UPBL, IBA, CBL from 1999 until 2004.
President launched President Productions and President Sports Gear in 1999 and the DAE Foundation in 2001. Through his organizations, President has operated as the Project Jump Shot Camp Director, the High School Sports Prep Club Director at Burke High School, and the designer for PSG apparel. President directed basketball skills training clinics for student-athletes in the community, developed the 3-on-3 Triple Threat Tournament and various summer camps, and provided personal, group, and team training.
More recently, President Productions continues to provide unique, high-quality training services for individual student-athletes, groups, and teams. President Productions serves as the training provider for the DAE Foundation. As a nonprofit organization focused on providing basketball skills training and other valuable athletic and academic services for underprivileged student-athletes, DAE implements a variety of community programs. These programs include: recreational, YBOA, and AAU team training and sponsorship; Basketball Basics 101; College Prep Seminars; OPTIONS obesity prevention program (in collaboration with MUSC); Healthy Hoops (in collaboration with Select Health); and more. President Productions and the DAE Foundation also enjoy close business relationships with organizations such as the College of Charleston, Salvation Army, Cannon Street YMCA, Kaplan, and more.
