Training is held on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
Sessions are held in the community recreation centers (currently, the Cannon Street YMCA).
Focus:
- Provides a venue for skilled and motivated student-athletes to participate in elite levels of competition.
- Introduces a system of training that effectively prepares teams to compete and win at this premier level of competition.
- Offers the opportunity for skilled and motivated student-athletes to be members of a travel team without regard to their ability to pay the associated expenses
- Creates an atmosphere that is focused on team play, sportsmanship, athletic conditioning and academics; fostering healthy personal growth and development.
Format:
- Teams are formed from student-athletes that have played on DAE sponsored recreational teams or have been referred to DAE.
- Teams follow a collegiate model of year long team skills training and incorporated strength and conditioning sessions.
- Teams remain intact and move to successive age groups together, encouraging team unity and development.
- DAE staff coordinates educational support for the players during the academic school year.
- Teams enter AAU and NCAA selected tournaments that recruiters and college scouts and coaches attend.
- DAE staff provides players and their families with feedback and information of how to help them get recruited and begin a successful collegiate career.
